The nose of kittens is small but has many peculiarities regarding its usefulness and the information it can give us about them. In this #TuesdayOfPet, we bring you 4 curiosities you might not know about them:
1. Cats have a sense of smell 14 times better than yours
It's true that a tiny kitty nose is no match for a dog's keen sense of smell, but make no mistake, a kitty's nose is still very powerful, specifically 14 times more potent and almost double the olfactory cells compared to humans. Consider this when deciding how often you clean their litter box.
2. Their nose, their fingerprint
Your kitty's nose is similar to our fingerprint; no two are alike in the world. From their mother's womb, the noses of kittens begin to form dozens of ridges that create a unique result. If you get very close to your cat's face, you'll see that its nose is not flat, but rough and unique.

3. Dry nose and wet nose
A cat's nose also speaks volumes about its health. When it's wetter than usual, it's a fairly common sign of some kind of feline cold. This can be caused by contact with another sick kitten or if it has been cold. When the nose is very dry, it can be an indicator of dehydration or that it has been exposed to too much sun.
4. Sniffing before eating
The cat's nose is very important for its feeding. Through this sense, the cat filters whether the food is safe for consumption or if it's better to pass on it. This is why a congested nose can be very dangerous for your cat, even to the point of causing it not to eat anything.
